Beach in Grand Cayman

What is the closet beach in Grand Cayman to the ship?

If you want to swim and lay on a sandy beach, there is 7 mile beach, which is the beach everyone knows about. You can hop on a public bus (US $2.50) and have them take you to Royal Palms.

Or, if you want to snorkel, head towards Paradise Bar in town. There is a little beach and great snorkeling and it's a 3 minute walk from where the tender drops you off.

Royal Palms is a free beach and it's not far. We took a taxi and it cost $4.00 per person. Thier is a small bar with food. if you want to rent a beach chair it's $7.00. We brought our own towels and sat on the beach and when were ready to leave thier were plenty of taxies ready to take us back.

Are there restrooms available? Is food reasonable? Thanks.

Yes there are restrooms. You can also rent jet skis and umbrellas besides the chairs. Nothing is what I would call reasonable on Grand Cayman. Just about everything has to be flown in or brought in by ship so food is expensive. Also, it depends on how the US Dollar is doing against the Cayman dollar. We had lunch at Royal Palms - about $35.00 + tip for 2 salads and 2 drinks.

Thanks for posting this information. Restrooms were our big concern.

... it depends on how the US Dollar is doing against the Cayman dollar... .

The exchange rate is fixed. As the US dollar has been losing value lately the Cayman dollar is right along for the ride. :(

For any reasonable amount of sand with easy access to restroom facilities you'll have to go to some part of Seven Mile beach or Smith Cove.
