If there are a lot of dates available then I would go with a day at sea only b/c when we were at port by the time we got back from our excursion or whatever we did we were so exhausted and getting all gussied up took time!

 

We always booked online beforehand. I think for us it was 90 days prior to sail date. Worked out well. If they are booked beforehand as soon as you get on the ship stop by Palo's and make a reservation. We did that as well on our 1st cruise.
