beach day at Nassau or freeport?

Hi, I dont think we are doing any excusions. I want to do a beach day instead. Which port is better for a beach day, Nassau or freeport? Also, how do we get to the beach? Are the beaches in walking distance or must we take a cab?

We also want to do a shopping day and just explore the port on our own. Which port is best for that? Again, must we take a cab or are the shops in walking distance?

Both are great for beach days.

At the port in Freeport, there is nothing to do ... so absolutely go to the beach!

Take the $5 jitneys from the port to Our Lucaya (board by taxi stands .. just ask where the jitneys are & you'll be pointed in the right direction) . There's plenty to see here: hotels, casino, the beach, restaurants & the Port Lucaya Marketplace. We spent a few hours at the beach & then did some shopping at marketplace before heading back to ship.

There is alot to do in Nassau but don't miss going to the beach here either. We took the $1.25 public bus #10 to Cable Beach about 15 min ride. Lot's of places to stop off at for the beach here. I've heard many good things about the Sheraton & the Wyndham. We went to the Sandals Grand Bahamian Resort ...did not use their facilities, just hang on the beach & the water was out of the world! Just like a swimming pool!

Have not been to but would like to try other beaches I've read about on both islands.

Enjoy!
