Pacruiser02 Posted November 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Hi, I dont think we are doing any excusions. I want to do a beach day instead. Which port is better for a beach day, Nassau or freeport? Also, how do we get to the beach? Are the beaches in walking distance or must we take a cab? We also want to do a shopping day and just explore the port on our own. Which port is best for that? Again, must we take a cab or are the shops in walking distance? At the port in Freeport, there is nothing to do ... so absolutely go to the beach! Take the $5 jitneys from the port to Our Lucaya (board by taxi stands .. just ask where the jitneys are & you'll be pointed in the right direction) . There's plenty to see here: hotels, casino, the beach, restaurants & the Port Lucaya Marketplace. We spent a few hours at the beach & then did some shopping at marketplace before heading back to ship. There is alot to do in Nassau but don't miss going to the beach here either. We took the $1.25 public bus #10 to Cable Beach about 15 min ride. Lot's of places to stop off at for the beach here. I've heard many good things about the Sheraton & the Wyndham. We went to the Sandals Grand Bahamian Resort ...did not use their facilities, just hang on the beach & the water was out of the world! Just like a swimming pool! Have not been to but would like to try other beaches I've read about on both islands. Enjoy!
