P&O vs RCI

Recently cruised twice on RCI and wanted to try a different cruise line , also liked the idea of sailing from Southampton , not messing around with flights . We are thinking of booking Ventura in may and wanted peoples opinions / comparisons on both cruise lines . Dining , entertainment and general on board service .We are looking at a superior deluxe stateroom and have no idea of which area on the ship is good or a no no , i would be really grateful of any opinions , trying a different cruise line turns you in to a virgin cruiser again ;)

Hi Lottycruiser, We've cruised once on RCI, twice on Princess and recently with P&O on Ventura. Here's a link to my cruise report. Sorry it's so long but you may find things interesting to you. http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1305968

We found P&O much friendlier and will certainly sail with them again :). You won't be disappointed with that grade of cabin. We had a normal balcony cabin which was very comfortable indeed. Sailing from Southampton was excellent and so well organised.

The obvious difference ofcourse is that P&O ships have mainly British passengers, British entertainment and British food. Many people say the entertainment is better on UK ships (Les Dennis on Oriana at the moment, we had Bobby Davro a while back with after dinner talks from the likes of Sir Henry Cooper or other sporting personalities, etc etc. ) While RCI have mainly unknown American artists . The money is in £'s not $, You should like it, I've been on Independence for the day, and Ventura is not as big and brash, but she's a nice enough ship.

The power sockets are british 3 pin too and no US 2 PIN.
