Buckeyefan Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 We will be in Nassau when an unmanned rocket is being lifted from Cape Canaveral on March 20th. Will we be able to see the rocket as it lifts off from the Glory in Nassau? If so where is the best place to observe? We are traveling with 3 girls (12, 11 & 8) so this would be a good educational moment for them. Thanks Kathleen
Suzieb Posted February 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Here is my guess. If it is a day launch and is of the normal equatorial orbit, not the North/South, you should at least see the contrail if it is a clear day. You might be able to see it stage, watch closly and the bright flash will be the stage 2 igniting. I would be topside and know where Cape Canaveral is in relationship to where you are. And be ready at anytime for the event. Sometimes these unmanned launchs happen real fast, and the rocket is gone before you know it. Good Luck in veiwing
GroupCruiser Posted February 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2005 You'll probably miss it. I just checked the Launch Schedule on http://www.flatoday.com and it's scheduled for March 19, not 20. Better yet as you'll still be in Port Canaveral, not Nassau.
