Colorado Kat Posted January 3, 2011 #26 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Jenmast - I can be overprotective with my kids, and I think StingRay City is very safe. I would not worry about it. Go and have a good time! Kathy
Caribbean Sunsets Posted January 3, 2011 #27 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Can you get off the ship and join an excursion? Or do you have to book prior to getting to port? In other words, are there vendors on the dock for seeing stingrays? Yes, there will be vendors on the pier that offer stingray tours. You don't have to be prebooked...although the companies recommended on this board are typically not the ones on the pier.
sugaangel601 Posted January 6, 2011 #28 Share Posted January 6, 2011 Respect them, feed them, be gentle with them, be careful with them as you would any animal that you have no personal knowledge of. Think "moderately friendly neighborhood cat" which will respond positively to free snacks. Not domesticated but far from "wild"--more like "accustomed to the presence of humans". Be wary but don't "beware". Relax and enjoy their beauty and friendliness. If you do decide to interact with the 'rays, you will almost assuredly want to go back. I know everyone I've spoken with who has visited the rays has been enthusiastic about a rematch! Great advice. I like your descriptions! Our family group is doing this in a few weeks. I didnt hesitate to book it, but at the same time, it wasnt something to cross off my bucket list. Thanks!
