Dining Room Table Numbers

No, they do not necessarily stay the same (with the exception of the Captain's Table..lol).

The table arrangements are set based upon passenger load figures.

Watch closely the first night, you'll notice the waiters all referring to their "cheat sheets" aka table number layout sheets while escorting passengers to the tables.

During a back to back, I helped fold napkins while the waitstaff literally rolled the roundtops to different locations in the dining room.

I believe the largest tables are for ten. We had a large family group once...no kids... and had two round tables next to each other a six and an 8. This really works better anyway. It's difficult to talk to people at the other end of a large table. This way you can switch tables if you like and everyone will have nice dinner conversation.:) Service is also better this way.

We usually have a group of 12 or 14 on a cruise. We find that two tables is best for us. The problem is having a different waiter when it comes to tipping as we tend to hop tables during the cruise. On our last cruise we were assisted by the Asst. Maitre'd as she remembered us from a previous cruise when she was one of our waiters. She made sure that we had the same waiter but then we found that our asst. waiters were significantly different between the two tables. Oh well. We do our best to tip each according to their assistance at the tables.
