abatlin Posted November 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2010 Is there any good shore diving available in Grand Turk? If so, where?
gliner Posted November 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2010 Not that I am aware of. Was there last week. Only one dive shop in the area and they do the excursions for the ships. Very limited coral reefs and from what I could tell, quite a swim from shore. Best to just do the excursion there.
JJPacer Posted November 27, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2010 We snorkeled with Blue Water Divers from a boat. Went to the sea wall and another spot. It was disappoiting. I wouldn't snorkel there. I would choose other islands for snorkeling. Make Grand Turk a beach day. Blue Water Divers was nice, but their boat was in very poor condition. I think it had a leak, and it was small. Lots of water in the bottom of the boat. No fear of sinking, just stuff floating around. I can't recommend them. scubaran Posted November 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2010 Is there any good shore diving available in Grand Turk? If so, where? In a word, No. Reef's 1/8-1/4 mile off shore. Boat diving's the only way to really get to the reef. Randall
jimw Posted November 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2010 The wall there is extraordinary and not to be missed for a scuba diver, not a shore dive for most of us though. Here in South Florida, many would consider this a kayak dive--load up the scuba gear on a kayak and go diving............
justtime Posted December 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2010 Is there any good shore diving available in Grand Turk? If so, where? There is one excursion with beach and shore snorkling very close to the cruise terminal, (with a short guided tour?) It is so close to cruise terminal, takes 5 minutes by bus, 15 minute or less walk and the snorkling is almost useless, all you find is broken coral, roof shingles (from bad storm in Oct 2010) better to walk to Jack's Shack, get a free Rum (go online and get it)
