We just booked on Pacific Princess for their Amazon Cruise sailing Dec 30, 2011. Reserved deck six cabin 6031. Anyone ever been in this cabin? What was it like? Any cooments on the ship in general?

Thanks much!

Can't tell you about cabin 6031, but we were on deck 7, cabin 7108 and LOVED it. Our friends stayed on deck 6 and found their cabin delightful. We spent 107 days on the Pacific Princess starting this past January and are doing it again this January. You will LOVE the ship!!!

We did this cruise B2B FLL to Manaus and return in February of 2009 on Pacific Princess. The size of this ship is wonderful and because of the reduced passenger size you will get to know crew and other passengers more that you would on a larger ship. The downside of the size of the ship is that there are not as many options for entertainment. The cabins are slightly larger than those in the rest of the Princess fleet as this is an old Renaissance built ship. The library is the best in the fleet. There is no big theatre so the production shows are done on a smaller scale and on a stage close to the audience with fewer singers and dancers. More intimate, I guess, is the best way to describe. Casino is smaller and there is no anytime dining. But we loved the size of the ship and the Amazon itinerary is very different. Enjoy your cruise.

I just booked this next Dec. and was thinking of doing a B2B. I have some questions about the ship and tours when you do a B2B. Does Princess do the same things on the ship on both voyages? (such as the same games, same tv movies etc?) Also, do you go to the same ports and have the same tours available. Is their enough to do when you go B2B? I know we did a B2B on an NCL trip and it was very boring. I do like the size of this ship. we just got off a 25 day African voyage (Rome - Capetown on the Ocean Princes) and had such a lovely time that we booked the FLL to Manasas trip next year and was trying to decide if we should do it B2B.

Normally, when doing a B2B, with the same ports on each leg of the cruise, yes, the exact same tours will be offered.

Also, the same menus, the same TV movies, and the same entertainment offerings (give or take depending on if some of the entertainers leave the ship and others board for the next sailing). But with the same ports, you will find pretty close to the same thing offered on each sailing.

We were in Cabin 6024 on Azamara's Quest which is exactly the same ship as the Pacific. Eight were built for the defunct Renaissance Cruiseline. It is in a great position and easy to get around with the staircase and elevator so close.

We love these smaller ships and have now had 7 cruises on them made up of Princess, Oceania and Azamara. Our last cruise was on the Ocean Princess this year where we went to West Africa and had 31 days on board. They are a good size and you do get to know more people during the cruise than on a larger ship. The cabins are well designed but you will find the bathrooms to be very compact!

We too have been up the Amazon but we did it with HAL. It is a wonderful experience and you will enjoy it. Be prepared for very hot and humid weather.

Hey you two, Wisc and Rusty, come join our Roll Call! It's been kinda quiet so far but we are now only 13 months away!

Can't help with the room question, this will be my first time on the Pacific but looking forward to it so much. I really enjoy the smaller ships. We are on deck 7 all the way forward, figured it would be a great location while cruising up the river!

Rusty,

The repetition on the Amazon B2B was my main disappointment. Everything is the same. I knew the ports would be the same but was not prepared for the entertainment to be largely the same and the TV and food to be the same. I will never take a B2B again that has the same itinerary. The size of this ship limits the entertainment venues anyway. Most of the performers brought on board perform at least two times and the main performer on our B2B performed 4 times because he was also on the return. I think I remember that one who performed twice in the theatre performed again in the smaller lounge. The production shows are repeated. The TV shows are repeats. Thank goodness we were traveling with good friends and we could play cards.
