What Platinum gift would you choose (if given an option)?

  1. 1. What Platinum gift would you choose (if given an option)?

    • Nothing - Carnival owes me nothing!
    • OBC - fixed amount
    • OBC - fixed + additional (based on cruise count)
    • COMBO: OBC (either type) + “one of below”
    • Choice of (e.g): Soda/Drink/Photo Coupons, Bucket of Beer, Soda Card
    • Whatever “Made in China” bauble they want to throw my way!

I will say that "these" Platinum guests don't bother with the past guest party any longer. It is just a chance to have a few minutes of low quality free drinks.

They need a PLATINUM party - and kick up the free drinks and such a notch!

On 7+ night sailings when I pick up our tournament entry cards in the casino, they often have a couple of pages of Platinum guests. It used to be just part of a page - now it's dozens and dozens of people, so there are a fair number of "us" out there.

We always do the blackjack tourney and never seems like a lot of platinums on the list. Will look at that next month.

Always figure that free drinks are free drinks and always give bar waiter a couple of bucks and get good ones.

Would like a platinum cocktail party or even a lunch with senior crew.

Tip some each round and you get frequent, high quality drinks. ;)

...

Sadly, I never thought of that. Have you both seen a difference?

I know in that past you could ask for specific drinks, and they would come back around. I was under the impression that that (it always feels odd having the same word twice!) particular loophole was closed.

I'm platinum with Carnival and recently returned from a 4 night cruise on the Fascination. I did not receive any logo item as they state but received

a few soda coupons instead. I rarely drink soda and was disappointed that they did not provide what they promise.

Yep... soda coupons don't sound like a "logo item".. unless the coupons had the Carnival logo on them!

If I go, I sit somewhere accessible - like off to a side. I usually ask them not to wait on me, just keep bringing 'em and tip every round. Usually I still have too much smuggled booze to drink. :p

It's sad (not) when you have to take some back home with you!

I do not think there are that many platinums on any cruise.

Look around at the past guest parties and they ask who has sailed 10 or more times and only a handful people raise their hands.

I think they are being very careful in deciding what to do or the person hired to do this is in over his head and cannot make a decision.

Our Fascination B2B cruises 2 weeks ago yielded OVER 100 platinum guests for both cruises looking at the sheets in the casino for the blackjack/slot tournaments. While the # of platinum cruises obviosly varies from cruise to cruise there are a lot more than you think.

Also there were about 10 MILESTONE cruisers on each as well.

That does not surprise me with a sailing out of Florida.

I would think with the concentrate of retirees in that area....the number would be high.

On the other hand...when we sail out of Mobile or New Orleans, we are usually the only Milestone or perhaps one other person....

If you are Milestone sailing out of New Orleans, ask Robert to show you their Port Newsletter for Employees for that sailing....your name and cabin number will be listed as Milestone!! I think that is kinda neat!!!

What I found insulting about the 4 coupons for soda was at the top of the page, a value of $7.75 was listed. Now we all know that 4 cans of soda is worth about $1.00.

I know it would cost $1.95 per can on board but not something I would buy so not worth $7.75.

Could they have given anything worth less than 4 cans of soda?

More stationery?

More stationery?

Very useful stuff!

Of their list (see comments) only a couple are useful (to us at least):

I had a thought (no one fall out in amazement!!!)

IF the casino is still giving cruisers free drinks once they have obtained 1,500 points....

for those on a 16 day TA....how much would you have to gamble to get 1,500???

*(see where I am going with this???)

Since the only Gold benefit is the Repeaters Party, that is not much to some. However, this is one of the benefits we love the most because DJ LOVES going and clapping for his ships. (especially now that he had clap for every one starting with the Tropicale)

Carnival Platinum benefits* including:

Personalized stationery (trashed)

I admit...I do use it....

A special Carnival logo item (no thanks)

A nice gesture but for folks like us that cruise a lot (3 of us at a time) the perk becomes of less value.

Guaranteed dining times and steakhouse reservations (I already "see to" that)

We don't do the steakhouse...but the Guaranteed dining time is nice..

Complimentary $20 entry fee into blackjack or slots tournament** (Useful and appreciated!)

WOO HOO ...since we won it once !!!

Spa Carnival priority reservations - (No thanks)

I don't spa.....

Petit fours and/or canapés delivered to cabin*** one evening (Mostly trashed)!

DJ likes them for the most part.....but he would like choc covered strawberries more. Something you can't get for free on Lido would be nice.

Complimentary wash and fold laundry service (Thank you)

One of the best perks....we use at least twice a cruise.

Priority tender boarding (It was nice to have at HMC - returning to ship)

We have not had to use it coming back from an island yet, but I bet we will really like it if we need it!

Priority embarkation and debarkation (Sporadic - particularly the debarkation)

The past two cruises, this has gotten MUCH better now that they allow VIP (who put their luggage out) to leave with the VIP Self Assist. If this continues to happen consistantly...woo hoo

Complimentary arcade tokens valued at $5 dollars for guests under

18 years of age (Sorry, at the cost/game - that's CHEAP)!

DJ enjoyed this perk before he turned 18 .....

... but a TA would imply, I'm assuming, the Magic. Just another Dream class (yawn)! ;)

We don't care so much what kind of a gift we receive because other than the 1st 2 thermos' and the tote, we've never done anything more than toss the others.

It would be nice to have it be something like you are suggesting. But what I would really appreciate is being TREATED like I'm Platinum. Too many embarkation ports don't have separate VIP lines for security, have too few people checking VIPs in etc.....

I know this is lazy, but I don't want to have to stand in line for anything, there should be a VIP queue for MDR, getting off and back on the ship in port.

But the thing that really burns me is not being treated properly during debarkation. Too many times they have forgotten to come get the VIP self assists (which should be the very 1st people off the ship), they should only be giving luggage tag number 1 to VIP and they should allow sufficient time for those 1st 2 groups to debark before calling for regular self assist which is the 3rd group called.[/quote]

THIS!
