MomtoCCC Posted November 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Hello We will be in GC next week with 7yo dd. Will it be hard to find a taxi to take us to Turtle farm at the port? Does anyone know how much it will cost for the taxi? (there will be 3 of us) Then - we would like to catch a taxi from turtle farm to Royal Palms to hang out for a little bit. Are there taxis readily available at the turtle farm when we are done? Thanks for your help.
mrpayroll Posted November 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2010 you should have NO problem getting a taxi to take you. Not sure about the cost.
CayManTA Posted December 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2010 Alternatively the three of you could go on a local minibus, both Routes #1 and #2 go to the Turtle Farm and Royal Palms (short walk from the cruise terminal - just ask for directions). Route #1 is the most direct; Route #2 is via Eastern Avenue. US$2.50 per person per ride, so figure on that amount for each stop you make (including the stop back at the bus terminal downtown George Town). TrqoisWtrs Posted December 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2010 I never knew there were specific bus routes. We always just grabbed one of the minivans coming down the street and asked where he was going. Some have even asked where we needed to go and they brought us. Bus fare, but convenient like a cab. :) If you are walking down the street they will usually give a guick honk to see if you need a ride.
ikirumata Posted December 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2010 Yeah, take the bus! Cheap and easy. In fact, when we went to GC, the winds were too high for us to dock in the usual place, so we had to dock around the other side of the island. The bus drivers were very helpful in getting us on the right busses to get us to the tender port. As far as getting a taxi at the farm, yes, it will be easy. In fact, its right across the street from the Dolphin encounter, so there are plenty of tourists that go to that area...thus taxis are always around. Have fun! Playing with the turtles was our highlight in GC.
