Tipping for Private tours

I have a question I hope someone will be able to advise me about. We are a group of 3 women who are traveling to Europe for a 12 day cruise. We are booking several pivate tours with companies in Rome,Florence,Naples. The cost of 1 tour is 480 Euros. What is an appropriate tip to driver after completion of the tour. I know how to tip in restaurants but are unsure of percent of tip for tour type of service. Any help is appreciated.

We were in Ireland this past Oct. & used taxis as our primary source of transportation. We were advised to tip 20%. We had such excellent drivers that we were very generous anyway. Also would depend on how long your tour is, etc. Is it all day, or 1/2 day? Perhaps 15% would seem adequate, this would be E72.00 total or E24.00 pp. If it's an 8 hr. tour, then this would equate to only E9.00 per hr.

 

E480.00 seems high to me for a tour of 3 persons. There is lots of info about prices on these boards.

Have you checked out the Europe boards? There is so much info there on tours, etc. You may get some other info on that board. It has lots of info on the ports you are going to.

Thanks for the response. I know 480 Euros sounds high. We were originally sharing this tour with 2 others, who pulled out on the tour. Appreciate your info.
