mtbmom Posted December 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2010 Is Celebrity as boring as it sounds for teens and early 20 yr olds? We got a great deal but I'm a little worried now!
kitty9 Posted December 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2010 If you're used to Royal Caribbean and all their bells and whistles, or Carnival and the non-stop activities, then some teens and younger 20 somethings might find Celebrity has less action. But bored is in the eye of the beholder. No, you won't find skating rinks, flo riders, rock climbing, big slides into the pool and all that, but there's still things to do-----UNLESS your cruise is when school is in session. If that's the case, there will be very few kids of any age on board.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Posted December 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2010 Is Celebrity as boring as it sounds for teens and early 20 yr olds? We got a great deal but I'm a little worried now! I am a 20-something and do not find Celebrity at all boring. Granted, I am really outgoing and can mingle with everyone, however on my Alaska cruise, I met several people my age traveling with their families as I was. On any cruise, there are a handful of people in this age group, and we all seem to hang out in the same places on board. So if one is friendly and outgoing, its pretty easy to find people to hang out with and meet up with for drinks, dinner, etc. Hope this helps! GrannyMouse Posted December 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2010 We took our 17 year old grandson on the Solstice Thanksgiving cruise and he had a WONDERFUL time. He spent a lot time in the teen club and made many friends. It was a great experience for him.
cynbar Posted December 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2010 I think on most cruises, the age group 19-22 has a harder time -- they aren't allowed in the teen club anymore, and a lot of the activities like the casino are too old for them. Princess has a series of meet and greet type activities during the week for this age group --- does Celebrity schedule anything like that ?? Silverback969 Posted December 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2010 On our most recent Celebrity cruise--okay, it was only our SECOND, but .... my wife and I were playing shuffleboard, and Kyle--a young man, maybe 11 or 12 y/o--watched for a short while, and asked what we were playing. We explained and, after watching for a few more minutes, he called "Winner!". He took the initiative to approach strangers, DECADES older than himself, and made himself perfectly at home. Moral? Don't be shy. Step out and meet someone, do something, that's outside your comfort zone. Kyle was a great kid, and we enjoyed his company, and his parents', throughout the rest of the cruise.
