When does casino open on Triumph from New Orleans?

Does it open in International waters (ie. 8 hours after departure) or sooner?

We left New Orleans on the Triumph at about 4:30 pm; the casino was opened at around 5:30 pm.

Isnt Gambling LEGAL on the RIVER in Louisiana??? All the Casinos hang over the River!!! They have Barges under the Casino area.

Gambling is Legal on the river in Louisiana. The casinos in Shrieveport hang over the water with the casino part on a barge or boat.:D

Gambling on land is, too. Harrah's Casino is just a few blocks from the cruise port, if you can't wait.

 

Lots of video poker all over, too.

 

Everything on the ship opens shortly after setting sail and hours before the mouth of the Mississippi. Anyway, most people like to look at the city and surroundings at sail away for at least a bit.

In Oct., the casino was open before we were done with our meet and greet right after muster. Maybe an hour and a half after we sailed. Long before we got down the Mississippi.

I had a friend who worked there a few years ago and said it didn't open until the next day due to the 'international water' rule so I just wanted to check what the current rules are.

I have cruised out of New Orleans for years on several cruise lines and my recollection is that there are no restrictions on the casino once that they wait until international waters.
