Buster27 Posted December 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2010 Does anyone know of a decent hotel in Miami near the port that you can leave your car parked at while cruising? FOR FREE....???? Thanks
CruisingSoon88 Posted December 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2010 We stayed at the Laquinta Inn & Suites Miami Airport East in January of this year. The rates were very good at around $85.00 per night and we left our car there the whole week for free. They even provide a shuttle to the port at no charge. You are responsible for getting back to the hotel from the port though. It was by no means a posh hotel, but it was clean and perfect for a one night stay before our cruise. We saved a ton of money by not paying to park at the port. They also had security that monitered their lot so we felt fine leaving it there. You may want to call. We had a friend who stayed at this LaQuinta pre-cruise and he got some delivery menus from the front desk. He and his two chidren ordered Pizza as the kids wanted to continue to swim. He did say that the hotel was clean and everyone was friendly. He recommended the hotel to us if we decide to cruise out of Miami. Good Luck to you.
CruisingSoon88 Posted December 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2010 We are staying at the Laquinta in April but question is we are not driving and are wondering if there is anything close to the LaQuinta, food etc/ Thanks:p Its not exactly an area that you would want to be walking around especially at night. We did go to the Bennigan's when we were there in January. It is close enough to walk, but I would not advise going there if it is still open. It was filthy and disgusting! The whole place was literally falling apart. Our seats were ripped and the food was nasty. I would suggest getting the delivery menus.
cruisersunsetbrat Posted December 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2010 Try the website stay123.com. If you book a room at one of their hotels for the night you get free parking for the duration of your cruise. Some offer free shuttle service to the port. We paid for a night's stay at the Fairfield Inn in Miami in October which included parking for up to 14 days. Free shuttle to the port but had to pay a taxi to take us back to the hotel and get our vehicle.
Albums in the Attic Posted December 16, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2010 The Hilton Garden Inn is near the airport. Our shuttle ride was about 15 miuntes. Parking at the Port for our 7 day cruise would have been $140. We spent $126 (with tax) for four guests at the Hilton Garden Inn for a room, a good breakfast for 4, free parking for 8 days and a free shuttle to the port. You are on your own for a ride back to the hotel. Taxis are plentiful. But we opted to use the same shuttle service for $12/person for the ride back. The hotel itself was fantastic. mcwebber Posted December 16, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2010 There used to be a Bennigans adjacent to the hotel but I have heard conflicting information that it may no longer be open. Bennigans chain is gone. Most, if not all, of the restaurants closed or changed names.
Froufie Posted December 16, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2010 According to most recent reviews on Trip Advisor (for La Quinta Miami airport East) - seems like the Bennigan's is still there? (maybe different ownership?) http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34438-d217704-r89504286-La_Quinta_Inn_Miami_Airport_East-Miami_Florida.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT The La Quinta Airport North might be another option as it sounds like more restaurants/shopping in the area. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34438-d87076-r85883336-La_Quinta_Miami_Airport_North-Miami_Florida.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT There is a $10 charge for the shuttle but again depending on the hotel rates this still might be an option!
