Blow up Pool

Don't sweat it, nor feel like you have to apologize. I have always brought my kids with me (on Disney and Carnival), even when they were infants. If you don't like kids, sailing Carnival is like a vegetarian going to a steak house.

Very funny & how true. My family went on the Big Red Boat many years ago. As I'm sure you know, the selling point of that cruise line was having Mickey, Minny and the gang prancing around the ship for photo ops. I heard two seniors complaining that there were so many kids on board. I kid you not!!! You know there will be adults dressed like rodents running around the ship & you don't think you'll see many kids?! I asked them why they picked this cruise, as they had to be aware that it was geared towards families. They said it was because they received a last minute Florida resident deal. I guess they thought for the price they paid they'd get to charter the ship for themselves. - lol. People's lack of tolerance and their belief that "their vacation" should fit into the nitch that they created for all just amazes me. All I can say is do better research people. If you don't like kids, don't pick a family cruiseline.

Wow, I really didn't realize how a simple question would turn into people berating me for bringing my baby along. I have tried to avoid all the negative comments as I think these people are the ones with a problem but if you would like a non family style cruise line....then go somewhere else. I will not leave my child at home and I will not stay home either. Get a life and move on from attacking people who like to have family vacations!

I've been on nine cruises and only saw someone use one of those small inflatable pools on our last cruise. I think it's a GREAT idea! It didn't take up a lot of space, the parents and the baby were happy, and it didn't disturb the people in the area - nor did it disrupt walking space. It's not like the deck was "littered" with them.

Go with your baby, enjoy your cruise, and don't pay attention to the cranky old curmudgeons who bash the idea. These are the same people who so loudly proclaim how they can do what they want to on the cruise ship because it's "their cruise" and they "paid for it". Well, remember that it's your cruise too, and there's room enough for everyone.

Are the ugly or at least negative comments from posters who lack empathy or

tolerance, or are they deliberately trying to stir things up but aren't really the

very unlikeable people they sound like?

Does it really Matter? Either way....it's rude :( "perfect stranger" .....this is why there is an Adults only section of the ship, room service (so you don't have to listen to all of the crying children in the dining room), casinos and bars...(No children there!)

Take the cute baby pool & put it where ever you would like...It is your vacation:p it's about making memories with YOUR family & there are LOTS of us who love cute little babies in cute little pools! Put it between two lounge chairs as long as its not sitting right in everyones way you are fine...I have seen many people with lots of beer buckets that take up just as much room & not nearly as cut!

The op's baby will be fine in a blow up pool out on the lido deck. She can

easily remove ONE lounger and replace it with her pool. It will be out of the way of traffic. She paid for her child to cruise and is obeying the rules

of only "potty trained children in pools". The likelihood of "everyone" bringing a pool is pretty low. We saw two, and one was our granddaughters.

Way too much negativity here regarding children. Dont book a cruise on a

family cruise line if you don't like kids.

OP, have a great cruise.

I agree, just ignore and enjoy your cruise. We have done the blowup pool many times. There are many out of the way places to put it. It takes up no more room than others large beach bags/towels/drink coolers etc. Some people will never accept that cruising has evolved to include families of all ages. My DD age 5 will be going on her 12th cruise this week and DS age 2 his 6th! We will continue to cruise as a family weather others like it or not.

Oh I remember that thread. Popcorn City!

OP do what you want and don't worry what others think about you. As long as you are respectful of other peoples space, no one will care. If they do, have the bartender send them a DOD....they need it! Happy cruising with the family.

I also am pass the baby stage, and I do agree that pool is really cute, however can you imagine multiple little pools around the deck chairs?? it's just like not allowing floating devices in the pool, it would get way too crowded. I think they should be allowed but only the in kids' pool area, not the deck around the main pool.

All of the pools except the adult pool are kids pools as well. Everyone bring what makes cruising better for them, and a blow up pool is a great idea to add for parents of toddlers. That duck pool will fit on a lounge chair, so it could take the place of one. It is absolutely better than chair hogs who just use loungers to hold their towels.

I am not sure if you understand what type of pool I am bringing as it is technically a blow up tub....so it is quite small and will fit in the shower bottom. Again, I am frustrated that I feel I must justify my choice of bringing my 18 month old along with me but I can't even count the number of people who have come up and complimented me on how well behaved my child is in restaurants. I find myself to be a rather considerate person and would make a good choice as to where to place it as well...of course I wouldn't put it in peoples way...I don't think I own the ship!!!!!!!!! However, my child has just as much right to go on this cruise as anyone else and you know what maybe she will cry a little bit here and there but that doesn't mean she has to stay at home.

On another note, I certainly appreciate all those that stood up for me and can appreciate and understand where I am coming from!! Thank you for your support!

You don't have to justify your decisions or choices to bring your child on your cruise. The majority of the people cruising are just fine with kids, but if there are people that aren't, that is their problem and not yours. Children are not perfect, and are held to a different standard than adults and that is ridiculous.
