Italian Nancy Posted February 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2005 Being Canadian, I can't use Priceline to bid on a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. The two I like best are the Riverside Inn and the Radisson. Expedia is showing a rate for the Riverside at approx. $105.00 US, and the Radisonn @ $122.00 any suggestions which one I should take thanks
Cathy p Posted February 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2005 I have never heard of the other one. We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott in Dania. It is a new hotel build 1 or 2 years ago and rec'd nice reviews. The will pick us up at the airport and take us to the pier for free. We are paying $161 a night. Some hotels will charge you extra for the airport and pier so you need to make sure up front. This is our first cruise Zuiderdam 3/5 yea next week....I still have so much to do:eek:
amyfromjersey Posted February 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2005 I choose Radisson. It's right there across from the port and $122 isn't a half bad price. Rack rate in July is about $169, so you would save some $$.
DHarbormaster Posted February 27, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2005 Two totally different animals......Radisson is recently built, no charm in a nothing neghborhood. You can almost walk to port but who would ? The property is first class physically but lacks the charm, warmth and mostly the location of the Riverside on Las Olas Blvd. The rates quoted by you are very good for either of them. My choice having been at both is the Riverside by more than a length.:)
peaches from georgia Posted February 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2005 The Riverside is great and has wonderful atmosphere. Right on Las Olas Blvd., a wonderful place to window shop and your pick of restaurants. We've enjoyed this more than any place we have stayed in FLL and it is not a chain hotel at all. Very popular cosmopolitan hotel.
Italian Nancy Posted February 27, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 27, 2005 We decided on the Riverside Inn and upgraded to a King room in the executive tower. Thanks for all your input
Darrell6t Posted February 27, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2005 We stayed in one of those rooms and we could even see the some of the ships at the port. But it was too far away to identfy them. A good choice.
Italian Nancy Posted February 27, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted February 27, 2005 From what I read on the hotel site, there should be lots of boat traffic, i.e. yachts, the rooms look great and the pool area overlooking the river a nice touch. Walking distance to restaurants and shop and from what I can tell the water taxi will take you to the Galleria Mall
DHarbormaster Posted February 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2005 You ought to look into getting an all day water taxi fare ticket... then you could explore Ft Lauderdale from the 17th Street Causeway bridge north to the many eating places on the intercoastal as well as the New River sites. You can spend a whole day just visiting the various stops on the water taxi route.
Italian Nancy Posted March 2, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted March 2, 2005 Expedia.com is offering them as an attraction, I think the cost is $6.50 per day, is that a good price ??
