yst347 Posted January 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2011 I have been researching rental car rates on GC. I have checked Andy's, Avis and Budget. On the Budget site they have a package for cruise ship passengers. link The package includes the following: Vehicle Environmental Recovery Fee (VERF) Visitors Driving Permit These two are represented as mandatory Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW) - No Deductible This is optional but we would probably spring for it anyway if our CC didn't provide it. Third Party Liability Waiver Insurance (TPLW) - No Deductible also optional but probably would decline. FUEL! Not sure how much fuel we would burn touring the east side of the island winding our way to Rum point but not having to bother with refueling is a plus for us. Budget is a name-brand car rental company so I feel comfortable with the brand. any reason to feel differently with the GC location? I could save a few dollars renting in the more traditional fashion but I'm not sure I save much. This is package appeals to me as it crosses several pit-falls off my list. Is it worth it or should I look more closely at Avis or Andy's? Thanks in Advance. yst
mimxmom Posted January 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2011 Did you check Cayman Island Rentals? I think they are located walking distance from the pier.
mdrobtx Posted January 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Did you check Cayman Island Rentals? I think they are located walking distance from the pier. This is who we used. NO PROBLEM. Drove to Rum Punch and to Hell and back. The gas gauge barely moved. Just get off the tender and while facing Magaritaville turn left. It's a 5 or 10 minute walk. We did our reservation online and the car was there waiting for us.
karonijo Posted January 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2011 Is there a website for Cayman Is. Rentals. We are looking for a car rental near the pier for our March cruise. We have been to Caymans so many times but never really ventured off the tourist trap to see the east or north side. Any help in rentals would be helpful. I have have read about Andys but I know they are a distance from the pier. Thanks for any suggestions.
ibidforit Posted January 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2011 We also have used cayman auto rentals. Prices are very good, and people were very nice. It is a short walk from the pier, but if you call them at the pier they will come pick you up. They will also drop you back off at the pier if you don't want to walk it. http://www.caymanautorentals.com.ky/ Gretchen
