Pre-pay gratuities

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are going on first cruise on the Rhapsody June 12. We booked through RCCL and pre-paid our gratuities. Our understanding of this is that unless we want to do anything above the recommended amounts of tipping, we will not have to tip on the last day because we have already paid for it.

Is this correct? Has anyone else ever done this?

I never noticed the option to pre-pay when booking, but I know you can pre-pay onboard - it's charged to your SeaPass account, and they give you vouchers to give out on the last night that state you've paid. Personally I prefer to do it the old fashioned way.

We have used the vouchers on the last two cruises. Personally, I like that method. We usually add addl cash in the envelopes for those that provided service above and beyond. Lots easier than getting change so we have the appropriate amount for each envelope.
