cruisinleelee Posted January 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2011 I know you love your painkillers:D. What's the best way to get to Jost Van Dyke?? Are their lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent at the beach. If you didn't go to Jost Van Dyke which beach would you go to in Tortola?? I could use a painkiller or 3;)
LollyMoz Posted January 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Hi! Yes, you are so right...I do enjoy my painkillers! My very fave place is the Soggy Dollar Bar. There are aidorandack chairs and hammocks on their beach, beach chairs too, but I don't believe you have to pay for them - at least we didn't when we were last there. We took an excursion from St. Thomas, but it was an all day deal including a trip to Virgin Gorda and The Baths, which was also cool and a stop at Pusser's Island for lunch. I don't know if it could be accomplished on a cruise, because of the amount of time it took (we were on St. Thomas for a week-long land-based vacation). I am afraid that I don't have any information on good beaches in Tortola, because whenever we've gone there, we have elected to take snorkeling excursions. Have you checked out the ports of call message boards here on CC? That'd be a place you might find some good leads. Anyway, have a fabulous time and definitely let me know how it goes! (And do for SURE have a painkiller for me while you are at it.) :D

LollyMoz Posted January 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2011 I just saw this ad and thought you might want to check it out: Dolphin Water Taxi provides day-trip service to Jost Van Dyke and the Soggy Dollar Bar $110pp. Reservations required 340-774-2628 I don't have any first hand experience with this company, but thought I'd pass it along just in case. cruisinleelee Posted January 12, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks but I'm looking into doing the trip from Tortola not St Thomas. We are heading over to St John for the first time from St Thomas. I'm really looking forward to that:)
Pia1913 Posted January 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Information for those who don't know: A Painkiller is dark rum, cream of coconut, orange juice and pineapple juice. And you thought they were talking about narcotics? :D
MsSteinrunner Posted January 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2011 In November, we traveled from Tortola to JVD with Tortola Charters http://tortolacharters.com/ Loungers & chairs were included. Previously, we had taken a ship's tour with HAL that included lunch & loungers.
