We had one of those on the Gem. It's not that bad. It's about a foot on either side but it's still a very nice balcony.

The bad part was being so close to the bow, when we sailed home through a nor'easter you REALLY felt the ship's movement. I bounced about 3 inches off the mattress that night. :eek:

It was a bad storm. Everyone got sea sick, including a lot of the crew. The ones who weren't bothered by the motion tried to make jokes. You had to hold the handrails to walk or you would be knocked off your feet.

For dinner, I woudl only eat in the dining room off bar central because it was the most midship point with the least motion.

Other years we had very smooth sailing. The weather is unpreditable.
