pepsiguy Posted January 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2011 My wife and I are going on the Jewel to Bahamas April 3 out of NY. We noticed on pictures that our balcony is partially enclosed..any comments on that? Thanks
trish1c Posted January 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2011 We had one of those on the Gem. It's not that bad. It's about a foot on either side but it's still a very nice balcony. The bad part was being so close to the bow, when we sailed home through a nor'easter you REALLY felt the ship's movement. I bounced about 3 inches off the mattress that night.
pepsiguy Posted January 16, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Thanks so much for the info. I was just wondering how closed off it was. Any one get seasick?
trish1c Posted January 16, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2011 It was a bad storm. Everyone got sea sick, including a lot of the crew. The ones who weren't bothered by the motion tried to make jokes. You had to hold the handrails to walk or you would be knocked off your feet. For dinner, I woudl only eat in the dining room off bar central because it was the most midship point with the least motion. Other years we had very smooth sailing. The weather is unpreditable.
