Oasis questions

We will be on the Oasis on 2/19/11. I am very excited, I have been on 13 cruises but I have not been on Royal Caribbean for many years when we went on the Majesty of the Seas and the Grandeur of the Seas when they were newer ships. We also have not been on a ship larger than 2500 passengers. We booked a boardwalk balcony room, which seemed kind of different. I hope we like the cruise. The majority of the reviews seem to be good.

I have a couple questions. I made reservations for 6:00 My Time Dining, I selected that we prefer to eat alone. Are they usually able to accommodate this? If not it is not a big deal, it isn't that we don't like other people but it seems like it takes longer. Are you able to request the same table if you like your waiter?

Also, I made show reservations, how early do you have to show up if you have reservations?

I've read a couple times that the casino is very smokey, do they have any non-smoking areas in the casino?

We did My Time on our recent Oasis cruise, and were always seated at a table for two. We had the same waiter throughout the cruise - we didn't even ask. They looked up in the computer when we showed up where we had been seated the previous night (we didn't make reservations) and sat us in the same section each night. They let people into the shows with reservations first, and then about 10-15 minutes before the show started they let those without reservations in. We usually arrived just before they opened it up to everyone, and never had an issue finding a "prime" seat. There is a non-smoking section in the casino. While you can still smell the smoke, I wasn't bothered by it at all (and I am bothered in the smoking section). Have a great cruise - we are awaiting our third snow storm in a week's period of time. I am green with envy!

Thank you for the information. That is nice they sit you in the same section, I like getting to know the waiter. I'm sure we will have a great time, I haven't been on a cruise yet that I didn't have a good time overall.

Hello:

My DH & I were on OAS in Dec. It is truly an engineering marvel and a beautiful ship. It is very steady so I never felt movement even in less than calm waters. We loved our room and enjoyed all the "new" areas. One thing we did not enjoy was the big crowds. For us, we found out that we enjoy a smaller ship atmosphere. The wait staff seemed a bit stressed to us and not their usually jolly smiling selves.

Central Park is lovely and has a great area for light sandwiches & snacks. At night we loved sitting out but when it rains the stone paver's get wet and it can be quite slippery. My personal favorite was the aqua show. Wow.what talented and brave young people. Get a good seat and arrive early as there always seems to be a lot of people without reservations also trying to get in. Of course, if you have a balcony near that section, you can see it from the comfort of your veranda .

We are still in awe of her beauty and it certainly can be a once in a lifetime experience, but we will not be sailing her again as we are getting ready to go out on a Radiance class ship (more our style). Enjoy..
