All taxi drivers should carry a rate card with approved fares set by the Taxi Commission. Taxis have no meters and charge by zone. Roundtrip fares are double. There is also a charge for baggage and waiting time.-boxes, suitcases, grips, and liquor boxes, the charge is $1 each after the first one.

Because these fares are pre-published, there will be no discrepancy about what your taxi ride will cost.

We bought an excursion with Shoretrips.com, and it's the kayaking in the Salt River National Park. On their instructions, they say we need to take a cab to Salt River National Park, which will be about $20.00 PER PERSON. Is this correct? Is there a cheaper and safe way to get there?

Should you book a roundtrip taxi from Christianted to Fredericksted for a snorkling tour? Tour operator (Big Beards) said $16 per person roundtrip.

 

Do you get a ticket that says rountrip? Do all the taxis honor that?

I would hate to buy for roundtrip then no one give us a ride back.

There is a blue canopy at the end of the pier where you can get a round trip to Christiansted for $16 per person (used to be $12.00). They will leave when the van fills and you pick up the return ride at the place you are dropped off.

There have been other posts on this subject where posters complained about having to wait a long time for the van to fill up--this can happen with this service as the drivers are reluctant to leave without a full van, so be forewarned. We were fortunate as we got in the first van to leave and only had to wait about 10 minutes for the return trip.
