3 hr vs 5 hr cruise

We are trying to decide which cruise to do. If we take the 3.5 hr we assume we will have time to go into town to look around. Can anyone help me. Our ship has us boarding at 4:30 to leave.

The town is not all that great - at least not the part you can walk to, just the typical jewelry stores and cheap souveniers. I'd rather do the longer cruise and see more of the island or go snorkel with the turtles.

We rented a car and drove all around the island on a prior cruise. Not much to see in town and it gets VERY crowded with all the cruise passengers. This time we took the five hour Tiami turtle, snorkel and beach trip and it was fabulous. 3 different stops on the cat to see turtles, a reef and shipwreck, and a swim off a fancy resort's beach, things we couldn' t have done on our own, an excellent island lunch on board (and continental breakfast to start). The cruise terminal on the way back to the ship has local hot sauce, cookbooks, local art and cards, easily the best terminal shopping of the cruise.
