Carnival Statement about Splendor

My PVP just emailed me a statement from Carnival regarding our February 20 cruise...

On January 21, Carnival Splendor departed San Diego where it had been docked while undergoing repairs. From there, the ship sailed to San Francisco to a drydock facility where the remainder of the repairs are being completed. Work is continuing on schedule and the ship is expected to re-enter service on February 20, 2011, as previously announced.

Time to start packing!

I'm on the 2/20 sailing too -- On one hand it's good to hear them produce some official updates. But it's been here less than a week with two full weeks to go (Dry dock schedule has it there until 2/15.) So, it will be a little more realistic once we get word that it's headed down to L.A. for stocking up!!

Good news. Knowing how precious dry dock time is I suspect the actual schedule is pretty well known. They just don't let ships sit in there as repair crews take extended time off. Unless the hit an unexpected glitch (and that's always possible), I think they'll make their scheduled sailings. PR for Carnival to report another delay would be terrible.

I wonder if those first couple of cruises will see any ongoing work being done while the ship is underway? No doubt the main systems will be fully installed but it wouldn't shock me if there is still a team of engineers aboard her.

It wouldn't bother me, they'll be in the engine room and I'll be on the Lido deck with a drink in my hand. :D
