Cruise Lover26 Posted January 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2011 How far are the mineral baths from the cruise dock in Nevis? Is a taxi needed or could we walk? Are there any other sights to see?
paul58 Posted January 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2011 It is a long walk from the ferry terminal(1000 yrds) to the Baths. I would take a taxi. There will be taxis at the pier. There are several things to see in Nevis-Alexander Hamilton Museum, Horatio Nelson Museum, Botanical Gardens, Cottle Church, the plantation inns & Pinney's Beach with its beach bars. airlink diva Posted January 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Hi! I was in Nevis in December. Had a great time and it's a wonderful island. I would also advise taking a taxi. When I was there in December, they were placing an overhead covering on the mineral bath site. There were seating benches also. According to my taxi driver, it was no cost. My driver mentioned that the historic bathhouse is schedule to be restored. Here's a photo Due to my ship time in St. Kitts and the ferry schedule, I was only able to do a short tour. The Alexander Hamliton museum was nice (also the best prices for posters and art prints) The Botanical Garden was on my list, but due to my limited time, I could only view the outside. The young lady working the front was really nice! I didn't get a chance to visit the beaches. You will find the island more laid back than most and the people really nice. If you get a chance to have Mr. Earl as your taxi driver, you with the best! Have fun on Nevis!
Dushi Posted March 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2011 Great pictures airlink diva and thanks paul58 for the tips on the highlights. We'll probably hire a cab for a few hours and see as many of the recommended sights as we can.
