Carnival Cruise

We sailed on the Carnival Freedom in the Med. in 2008. I was very leary about the idea and went with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. Cabins were bigger, itinerary was great, and food was definitely better than say, RCI. That being said, I tend to stay away from the older ships on ANY cruise line. Yes, I was also worried about the smoking policy but it was a non-issue (I am very sensitive to cigarette and cigar smoke). I had more problems with a cigar smoker on the suite balcony next door when we last sailed on the Connie before Celebrity's policy changed. I think your teens would definitely prefer Carnival. My adult daughter complained of being bored in the evenings on the Eclipse, though she loved the cruise and ship.

While we enjoyed our Carnival cruises which were our first three and the kids were little, once we tried Celebrity, we will never go back! Even the boys say how much nicer Celebrity is. It has much less of the loud, party crowd (think Spring Break 24/7).

However, the food in the MDR was good, staff was always friendly and attentive, and the Chocolate Melting Cake is yummy! We are all very sensitive to smoke, but didn't have any issues in our room or on the balcony. The casino though was another story.

If I had to choose between cruising, or not cruising, I guess I would do it. But don't be surprised if you are constantly comparing the 2 lines. It will only make you appreciate Celebrity more!

Have a great time with all of your friends!
