Celebrity Cruises Expands 'Acupuncture At Sea'

Guest Demand Leads Trendsetting Line to Offer Program On Five Ships

MIAMI, April 20 -- The world's first cruise line to offer "Acupuncture at Sea," Celebrity Cruises has announced plans to expand that exclusive program from one ship to at least five, based on overwhelming guest demand.

"We were thrilled with the tremendously positive guest response during our trial program onboard the Infinity," said Celebrity's Senior Vice President of Fleet Operations, Dietmar Wertanzl. "But we weren't entirely surprised. Our guests are savvy travelers interested in new methods of enriching their lives and improving their health and well-being. Acupuncture certainly qualifies, so why not offer it within the relaxing environment of a Celebrity vacation?"

Celebrity's Acupuncture at Sea program features between two to four doctors of Oriental Medicine who offer treatment for pain management, smoking cessation, weight loss and stress management; present lectures about acupuncture, feng shui, nutrition and healing with herbs; and diagnose and treat specific syndromes with medicinal herbal formulas.

"The satisfaction rates among the guests who experienced Acupuncture at Sea onboard Infinity have been tremendous -- even beyond what we normally see in regular clinical settings," said Dr. Philippe Manicom of ***** Alliance, Coconut Grove, Fla., acupuncturist for celebrities and Olympic and NBA athletes, and among the professionals offering the service onboard.

Celebrity's Acupuncture at Sea debuted on Infinity in September 2003. The program will be available this year on Millennium April 25-November 21, Constellation April 24-October 24, Infinity April 25-May 28 and September 26- December 31, Summit April 30-June 2 and September 17-December 31, and Galaxy May 7-December 31.

Celebrity is the industry's highest rated premium cruise brand with a taste of luxury. The cruise line has 10 ships in its fleet, which is the youngest of any major line. Celebrity sails to the Arctic, Antarctic, Alaska, Bermuda, California, the Caribbean, Europe, the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera, the Panama Canal and South America.
