southern*belle Posted March 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2005 We are about to cruise on the Carnival Legend in 06 and I would love to hear what you think about these things: *the difference is between an 8A and an 8H room * what hotel you recommend in Ft. Lauderdale * excursions you recommend *if you've had a wedding or vow renewal on board what were your thoughts? *over-all rating of the ship *differences between deck 4 and deck 8 as far as where you are on the ship? Hope that is not too many questions......but thanks for stopping by! p.s. Is anyone else going on this cruise? :p Sorry I forgot to add my itinerary: Exotic Western - Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize. Same size cabin, same size balcony. We stayed at the Amerisuites. Near the port and we parked our vehicle for the duration of the cruise. Not sure of your itinerary, but we did the Southern. Took a taxi to Orient Beach at St. Martin, got a private taxi (ask for Victor) and took a tour of Barbados for about 4 hours and it was $80 for both of us, just walked around Martinique. I'd give the overall experience on the ship a 9. Best class of ship in the Carnival fleet. Deck 8 is closer to the Lido deck, for buffet and pool purposes. southern*belle Posted March 2, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted March 2, 2005 I just added my itinerary, but thanks for this information. I didnt' think there was much of a difference, but is the 4th deck better or the 8th deck? Which is which? What is the name of the 8th deck? Thanks for your help! Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted March 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2005 I just added my itinerary, but thanks for this information. I didnt' think there was much of a difference, but is the 4th deck better or the 8th deck? Which is which? What is the name of the 8th deck? Thanks for your help! Deck 8 is PANORAMA here is a link to the deck plans: http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plans.aspx?shipCode=LE We were on deck 4 (by choice) - and will be on the Miracle (also a Spirit class ship) - it is closer to more things that we enjoy - such as the dining room, casino, lounges, etc.... we are not big LIDO deck people - we usually hang out on our balcony (see links below)... I noticed your signature shows the Legend in 10/05 - yet you say 06, did you change your dates at some point? ENJOY! Tom
steveNcindy Posted March 2, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2005 Here is our review of that itinerary - we had a great time. Hope you enjoy http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=3272

BEACHBARB Posted March 3, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2005 I'd go with an 8C or 8E (extended balcony). Well worth a little more money if you like to sit out on the balcony (which we did). Did both exotic southern and eastern on Legend and liked eastern better. Maybe it was the weather. Belize - went snorkeling and it was rough and cloudy UNTIL we were ready to leave and then it looked beautiful. The Paname Canal was awesome to see. Went to the Atlantic to the Pacific in a few hours. Costa Rica was rainy so we didn't do anything there. Good coffee and really cute little hand made boxes that come apart. Sorry we didn't buy more of each of those there. Have a great time. It's a GREAT ship.
southern*belle Posted March 3, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted March 3, 2005 Ooops! I'll go back in my itinerary and change it! Thanks! steveNcindy~ I'm going to your link now! Thanks a million everyone!
popcorngal Posted March 3, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 3, 2005 We were on the Legend for the Southern cruise in 04, then on the same cruise with neverenufcruising (hi CD!) this past January. For the southern route, we took the green train tour in Costa Rica. It was very scenic but that train will rearrange your bones...very bumpy! In Belize, we did the city tour. I now know there are much better choices, as that tour did not leave a very good impression of the country. In Panama, we did the canal tour which IMHO, is a must see. You may never get there again, and to be in a small boat going through those huge locks is something you will never forget. Personally, I preferred the eastern route and ports. Plus, if you are a shopper, the southern route offers very little shopping. You will love the Legend though, and I wouldn't care where we were going, a cruise is a cruise is a cruise!:D
judyf Posted March 3, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 3, 2005 I prefer the ports with less shopping (can do that at home) and more once in a life time things to do. Check out the port boards there are a lot of great ideas what to do in each port. I have all private tours booked. Belize-Snorkeling at Shark-Ray Alley with Wet & Wild Costa Rica-Tour with Oscar Brown I plan to go Ziplining Panama-Tour with Mario and going to the Indian Village and the canal and other stps too. hill6 Posted March 3, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 3, 2005 My mom stayed twice in the Fort Lauderdale Marina Marriott and loved it. It is literally across the street from the port.

southern*belle Posted March 3, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted March 3, 2005 I can't wait either! This is so exciting. However, popcorngal, I'm a shopper, but I like exotic things. I chose this route because of the uniqueness of it all. My sister also said that she will only do the Eastern Caribbean. It's a matter of taste, I guess. I just love to cruise! Thanks for the review steveNcindy - AWESOME!
