cruzluver2 Posted February 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2011 We will be sailing from FLL. I have read several reviews and really need to know which of the two Hampton Inn North at 12th STreet or Hampton Inn Air/Cruiseport on Stirling would be the best for us. We will be flying in and would like to be within walking distance of a few restuarants and some light shopping. We also enjoy people watching. Thanks for your help. bumbles Posted February 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2011 We've stayed at the one on 12th street (north cruise port) and enjoyed it. There is not a whole lot around, but there is a shopping mall that has a Winn Dixie, Bell's dept. store, a liquor store, and some small restaurants (can't remember what they were). The best part about it was they have a shuttle that would take you out to restaurants. We went to restaurant down by a marina called Rendezvous, which was really good. There's really no people watching except seeing all the cruisers coming and going in the morning in the hotel.
oncruisecontrol Posted February 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2011 The Hampton Inn on Stirling Rd is adjacent to a shopping center called Oakwood Plaza. There are many restaurants such as TGI Fridays, The Ale House, Dave and Busters, and McDonald's in this plaza. Some of the shops include BJ's Wholesale Club, BJ's Liquors, Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, Ross Dress for Less, and Kmart. This is a big shopping plaza. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Stirling Rd in November, pre cruise. We got it though bookit.com for just under $70/night taxes in. It was a wonderful stay and they gave us a one bedroom suite and had a hot breakfast, shuttle from the airport to the pier. We plan to stay again in May before our Transatlantic cruise.
