I bet supersoakers with pee in them would keep them at bay!

We must protect this house!

Great idea! We have three booked for our cruise in July. Just put all the kids in the middle one and they should be able soak anyone trying to use them without permission.

There is a website somewhere that allows you to see how many ships are there on the day you are there but unfortunately I did not bookmark it.]

I believe the website you are thinking of is this:

http://www.cruisett.com/ports.php

Hope this helps!

Thanks I'll check that one out more. It isn't the same one but it looks interesting. The one I used had Half Moon Cay etc and a chart for every ship in port on a specific day when you selected that day. Thanks I'll bookmark your link as well and when I have more time I'll play with it as it may do the same thing and I just haven't worked it right.

Evi I found it!!!! Try this one out:

Excellent site as well. Let me know what you think.

We've had clamshell squatters... There was a large downpour right after we got set up for the day at HMC. I decided to try and wait it out in the water since I was already wet and my sister stayed in the clamshell. The weather got way worse & showed no signs of stopping so I went back up to our spot. There was an entire family packed into my half of the clamshell (Mom, Dad, toddler, Grandma, & Grandpa included). My sister said they barely spoke english and was pleading with her "please, the baby, just the baby" and shoved him in there before she had a chance to say anything. One by one, shortly after "just" the baby the rest of the family felt the need to all cram into the tiny space. If they would have walked maybe 30 steps, they could have taken shelter in one of the bar or food areas.

I'd suggest getting 1 farther down the path. The folks that tend to 'horn in' on other people's stuff, don't tend to like to overexert themselves with walking and whatnot.

I loved the cabana we got. It wasn't a hot day, but it was nice to sit and relax and munch on some treats. The kids loved the floats and scuba gear too.

One of you mentioned that you have 3 cabanas for your July cruise. Don't you have to rent those when you are onboard the ship and not prior to the cruise?

You can book them on line now.

Anyone planning a private sign, don't waste your time. It will be ignored just like the sign already on the cabana, or "No chair saving" signs on the Lido deck.

You would think that for as much as people pay for those cabanas they would have security folks that patrolled them. Maybe give everyone that has legitimate access to the cabanas a wristband to use, so that the squatters are easily identifiable.

Sounds like a good idea to help people understand that we pay for the cabana that way maybe people will be a little nicer

And they dont come cheap!

Usually at HMC only one ship maybe two will be in port at a time. I don't think they have enough tenders to handle more than that.

Don, I tend to agree. The sign that's there is pretty clear. The only thing I can think of is to bring along a sign that says, "We rented this cabana through the Shore Excursions desk. We paid for it and the gear that goes with it. You are not welcome to use it.":p

I will say that although we had problems with the ginormous family that probably would have ignored my rather blunt sign anyway (just as they cut in line for the tender), we really didn't have too many problems with folks - but the farther down the beach you are, the fewer problems.

The people that were a problem on our cruise pretended not to understand English, too - then when a crew member/staff member who could speak their language was brought over, all of a sudden they burst into all kinds of 'french' - in English, if you know what I mean. That's the point when they were removed down the beach.

I really don't have an issue with people of other languages speaking their own language - what I do have an issue with is when they use that as an excuse to play ignorant or for bad behavior. We've observed this on multiple occasions - funny thing is when you demonstrate that you understand/speak their language, the behavior usually stops.

I don't think a sign would have made any more difference to this crowd - and I don't think our experience was "normal". I really think that most who would ask to use your shower or floats really don't understand or know that there is a way they can rent these things themselves, and when properly directed, make their way down to get their own - but the ones who cause problems, whether with cabanas, clamshells, chair hogging on deck on the ship, or jumping line in the buffet are typically not people who have any concern for others.

Travelqueen-I agree. Usually its bad behaviour all around! Like you mentioned, not only the cabanas, but later on the same folks in the aft pool and casino. Bad apples spoil the bunch!

I was telling my boyfriend last night about the responses on this thread and he was just like "Sooo, people know they didnt pay for it and they still try to crash the cabana? *****?" lol! Says he has no problem at all saying something if needed!

Thing is, we had a cabana last time further down..I think #11. I was thinking of getting one closer this time to the bars, but not too close. Someone suggested anything above #8 and you're ok.

we will have a handful of 60 and 70 something's. Would we be able to use a cabana as a station for a larger group to hang around but not sit in? Sort of as a base!

Anyone can sit on the beach in front of the cabanas & use the hammocks. It is just a limit on the number using the actual cabana.

Hi! As long as you pay for it, its yours ($200) and needs to be pre-reserved with Shore Excursions on line or the day of sailing. So its pretty much all or nothing on the cabanas.

There are chairs and loungers on the beach to use for free and then Clamshell shades are also available for rent.

Just a suggestion here. Maybe the cruise directors of ships that have Half Moon Cay on the itinerary can mention something during the "Fun Ashore & Fun Aboard" event where they discuss all the various excursions available during the trip. Granted it still would not reach 100% of guests, but between the event and the constant replay on the television, more guests would become informed about the cabanas.

Something like the cabanas are private property accessible only to guests that have reserved one through Shore Excursions. If there are any available, they can advise guests on how to reserve one.

This just happened to us on the Destiny sailing! While the rest of the fam wandered off, I was laying in one of the loungers when I younger woman came up, used our shower (which had the volume and pressure of a urine stream, btw), and then walked off. Shortly after, two older women came up and did the same thing. I mentioned that this was a private cabana, so naturally, neither of them knew english. One said something to the effect of "relax". While they were up there, a Carnival employee in whites stopped by and asked them how they were liking their cabana. They answered, in perfect english, that they were happy. Of course they were, they were using the amenities that they didn't even pay for! My head damn near exploded. I tried to flag down Happy Helperton, but he had his back turned, and by then, the two old bats had left as well.

It would have been one thing had someone asked permission to use the shower first. I would have had no problem with it. However, just assuming you have a right to whatever you want, screw anyone else, rubs me the wrong way. Even more annoying when you hide behind your language to get away with it.

The excursion talk made no mention of the cabanas. Even if they are sold out, perhaps they need to mention that they are private, and unless it is yours, you have no business there.
