sarar Posted February 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Haven't been on the Escape for a about 6 years, but as It was supposed to go through a refit last year thought I'd try it again. Does anyone know did this refurbishment acutally happen in 2010?
Rebel Rouser Posted February 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Hi Sarar, I believe she had a mini mini makeover in 2008/9 (memory loss it's my age) where they cut down the casino and made a sportsman's bar and had all types of sports memorabilia hanging on the walls where once a week they held auctions for it. Also where the old roll out canopy over the pool area was they have taken that out and installed a mini play ball game play area...it's ok but if you happen to be laying on a sun lounger trying to relax, all you can hear is thump thump of the ball all of the time where some of the youngsters seem hell bent on hitting the ball as hard as they can. And the sail-away bar had a bit of a make over with a lot of the outside surfaces were renewed. I'm sure there was something else..but memory again :D
sodafountain Posted February 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2011 It's also been in dry dock since October, £4m worth of work according to Wikpedia (if you can believe it), it finally left there on Monday, and is currently in Tenerife awaiting it's first passengers on Friday. Of course 4 million is peanuts at todays prices compared with the 10's of millions other firms spend on refits. Even TUI who own Escape are spending lots of millions refitting Mein Schiff 2? for the german market. It is the former Celebrity Mercury launched in 1997 and the refit will cost 50 million euros. I get the feeling that us british just keep getting inferior products.
