wesail4fun Posted February 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Booked a cruise earlier with a different PVP; as mine had left for the day. Was afraid to wait until Monday as there was a huge price drop on a particular cruise on the Magic I have been watching for over 6 months. PVP I used today said it was no big deal and wouldn't hurt my status with my regular one. I know she got a commision for booking my crusie and I feel guilty...but I had to do what was best for us price wise. Has anyone else had this issue???????????? k2excursion Posted February 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2011 I don't even know who my PVP is anymore, nor do I really see any benefit from them. I don't think I even have one, since I pretty much take care of all my own planning. I had one on the first cruise that I booked myself, and maybe I used the same one for the next one. But for the last 2 cruises that I've booked myself, I just called the 800 number and booked with the customer service rep who answered. PVPs do outbound calls, although they can still receive calls once they give you their number. Customer service reps (who are not PVPs) take incoming calls. They've done alot more for me than PVPs have. There may be some inside specials and deals that I wouldn't know about from my own research that a PVP could tell me about, but that's never happened for me. Rare Tapi Posted February 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2011 PVP I used today said it was no big deal and wouldn't hurt my status with my regular one. I know she got a commision for booking my cruis and I feel guilty...but I had to do what was best for us price wise Your PVP will secretly hate you for booking with someone else, but you did what you had to do! How did you get a hold of someone to book this cruise? If you called the 800-Carnival number, then a CVS (Cruise Vacation Specialist) made your reservation (not a PVP). If this if the case, your PVP gets ZERO credit for this booking. If another PVP made the booking (someone in the same exact department reached by calling the PVP 800 number), then your PVP may still get credit. Only one PVP has "ownership" of a guest so if another PVP attempts to book that guest, the original PVP still gets the credit. This rule is in place to deter PVP's from stealing each other's clients. PAPERBKWRITER Posted February 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2011 My PVP left the company but I remembered using his pal once (when he was off) and had his # so I called him. They get your file if you request them as your PVP and I think they get credit whenever you book thru Carnival.
UpstateCruizer Posted February 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2011 PVPs are not paid a commission on bookings. They are given credits or points. Your PVP should understand since their primary focus should be on meeting your needs. I absolutely love my PVP. In the past when he was out of the office on vacation he'd always leave a message providing the extension for his back up. They had a deal worked out to cover for each other. He also has a cell phone number which he provides to all of his clients making him accessible after hours. He does work in the office and at home. Yeah I called the 800 PVP line & this person said she happened to still be there.
golfadj Posted February 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Was not totally thrilled with my pvp for past year or so and called today to book a cruise and found out he went on vacation about a month ago and never came back. Now we are contemplating whether to find us a new one or use a TA who offers us an OBC.
b714210 Posted February 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2011 My PVP also provides me with her cell # for just these circumstances. A couple of months ago, 4 friends were ready to join us on our cruise. My PVP was not at work; I gave them her cell #. She drove into the office and booked them.;)
mommaC82 Posted February 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 13, 2011 Our PVP is awesome as well! She, like others, provides her cell phone #. We booked our Pride cruise on a Sunday, and she booked it for us from her mother's house where they were celebrating her niece's 16th birthday! I felt really bad intruding on personal time with her family, but she really didn't seem to mind and said her phone had been ringing all day. Not sure that I would want to be that accessible all the time, but to each their own!
