Margaritaville Cozumel

I thought Carnival docks right in town? If so, its a really quick walk to Margaritaville.

Margaritaville in Cozumel is beautiful to sit outside on the patio and have a drink. It's on the water, totally relaxing. I'm not into chain restaurants, but love having cocktails outside there.

When we were there last year, Carnival docked right in town. Hubby and I did our own pub crawl. Although we much preferred the local dives, we included a few of the "corporate" locations in our little tour, Margaritaville being one of those.

It was definitely within walking distance. We sat outside and had a few beers...you can sit at a table or at the tiki bar. Ship is visible.

They also have a "dock" with life jackets, towels, snorkeling equipment, big floats and a monitor. If you've got your bathing suit or shorts you can jump in and snorkel around. No extra cost involved.

Carnival *normally* docks at Puerta Maya. That is the one farthest from downtown...

Now, there are rare occasions, when there are more than 2 Carnival ships in port, that the third Carnival ship will go to Puerta Langosta. That is the one right by Mega and near Margaritaville.

BUT, it is a rarity that Langosta is used.

Plan on being docked at Puerta Maya. And, a hint about Taxis -- if you don't go with the ones sitting at the port waiting, you'll get a better price. We always ask the price - they always say 7. We keep asking different taxis until we get one for $5 or 6. (We always tip them the difference plus a tip.)

Margaritaville in Cozumel is awful, IMHO.

And, if they ask you if they can bring you some fresh guacamole, don't accept it unless you are prepared to pay for it and tip the maker... We thought it was free, like salsa. They certainly intimated that it was so that we would say yes to it.

It's also expensive and boring. For the price of two drinks and a Cheeseburger in Paradise, you could go to Mr. Sancho's or Nachi Cocum for the day!

  • 11 months later...

The distance from the land end of the pier to Margaritaville in Cozumel is .19 miles....slightly shorter than the distance from mid-docking pier to the pier exit (.25 miles)....the total distance from where to disembark from the ship to the front door is approximately .44 miles or less than half a mile. You can take a look by using GooglEarth... zoom in on the sidewalk in front of the pier and head south. You can actually "walk" from the pier to Margaritaville at ground level in GoogleEarth. There is a well defined sidewalk...we are planning on pushing a wheelchair the distance. Cheers! p.s. This is the downtown pier....if your down south on Carnival, get a cab. Sorry, I should have read the complete post. Carnival built their own pier down south after the hurricane in the early 2000 destroyed the old one.
