Timoire Posted April 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Please tell share comments about the Radission hotel in SJ? The price is mid $100 and located on Ashford Avenue. Okay neighborhood? Near shops and restaurants? Nice rooms? First Time Cruiser
CCLNCLRCICRUISER Posted April 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Timore Im staying there friday, oct 1 of this year. It was a priceline winning bid for me($75) From all I have read, its in a good location. Ashford is a major street in Condado. Here are a few reviews from tripadvisor.com http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147320-d150444-Reviews-Radisson_Ambassador_Plaza_Hotel_Casino_San_Juan-San_Juan_Puerto_Rico.html Here is the hotel website http://www.raddison.com/sanjuanpr_ambassador When are you going to be in San Juan? I would also like to hear from some cruisers that have stayed at the Raddison recently. Hope this helps Jeff Destiny 10/03/04 Roll Call Destiny,Past,Present and Future Cruisers 10/03/04 Date with Destiny
Timoire Posted April 6, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Jeff, We will travel to SJ next week and enjoy our cruise on RC Serenade of the Seas. Should I place a bid thru orbitz, hotels.com or priceline? I would like to stay with a familiarr chain hotel. First Time Cruiser
imosoreal Posted April 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2004 You will probably get the best deal through Priceline. I'm staying 10/1-10/3. OctoberDestiny paid $75 and I paid $82. Remember to bid on a 3+ star hotel. Do not bid any more than $85.00 otherwise you might as go to directly to the hotel of your choice. Try resort first and see if it'll give you the Caribe or Wyndham which so many people are vying to get. I do believe that the Radisson is just as nice from what I've read of the reviews on Travel Advisor. CCLNCLRCICRUISER Posted April 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Timore I agree try priceline and like Imosoreal said dont bid over $85,I would start at $75 and see what happens... if all your bids get rejected then you can try those other sites.Good Luck!! Have a great cruise! imosoreal I think we are staying in the same hotels before and after our different cruises. I decided to stay out in Dorado Saturday Oct 2, just to chill before the start of the cruise. Got the Hyatt Dorado also for $75 via priceline and the Wyndham Old San Juan post cruise for 2 days. paella Posted April 7, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Before you bid on priceline, go to www.biddingfortravel.com. There's lots of bidding info there. They have hotel reviews and a list of hotels that have come up in the past. Good luck with your bidding.
Timoire Posted April 7, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Priceline rejected my 85 - 115 bid for 3 star hotels probably due to lack of available rooms in Condado and SJ. I decided to reserve the room directly thru Radisson's website. First Time Cruiser
irisheyesaresmilin Posted April 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Stayed at Radisson pre-cruise 3/25-26 via priceline at $125. Rooms were great, location is great (plenty of dining options nearby, bus for $0.25 to Old SJ), but not the place to stay if you want the beach. Nice rooftop outdoor pool. Stayed 3 days at Caribe Hilton post-cruise and it's got it all (oceanview rooms w/balconies, manmade lagoon, 3 pools w/swimup bar, etc...). great little cafeteria/minimart just across the street (2 eggs, bacon, toast, coffee for $3-$4).
