Well this is news to us, and we are supposed to be on this cruise. Heard nothing from TA or Thomson. To be honest if we were not doing the Egypt ports we would much rather it be cancelled anyway. It would be nice to be told though....

Which is the ship going into dry dock?

He means the Island Escape, which had been in dry dock since the Autumn. It arrived in Tenerife last week but wasn't fit for purpose and the Spirit took over the cruise. The Spirit was due to sail over to the Red Sea this weekend I believe so not sure if there are more problems with the IE.

I'm completely confused now

Sat on Spirit, looking at IE, got boarding card, and luggage has been collected.

Got our £100 onboard spend, plus £39 for cabin we paid, free safe, and a free excursion today for switch over (going Loro Parque in 10 minutes).

I think it is the Spirit cruise in the Red Sea which has been cancelled as she had to stay on in the Canaries for an extra week because, despite being in 'refit' for months they did not manage to get the Escape ready on time

Is it all down to money? TUI will spend 30 million euros on Mein Schiff2 but for Thomson, peanuts.

Supposed to be sailing on the Spirit on 3rd March. Makes me wonder if this one's in doubt too?? Can't believe they cancelled the 24th, at such short notice. The compensation they are offering is nothing short of an insult:mad:

We are also booked on 3rd March on Spirit. Presmably Thomson think there is time to sail it from Tenerife to Sharm in the short window of days available? Their website indicates so, as does a conversation my TA had with them today, so fingers crossed.

What is that compensation though, just in case?!

Not sure how true this is, read it on another forum. Apparently had been on the phone to the tour operator............

They are offering a full refund plus £40 per person compensation, a place on the next cruise on the 3rd March plus £75 per person, or any Thomson cruise between now and the end of October.

about 3000 nautical miles or say 7 days plus a day for the suez canal.

They must have known that a week ago when they kept the Spirit in the Canaries. They were still selling the cruise for the 24th on Monday on the website. If we could have changed our holiday dates we might have booked that as it was around £450 from Manchester if I remember rightly. Not such a bargain now, lucky escape.

We were on the 24th cruise. Spoke to Thomson today and their offer was:

£75 eachoff another Red Sea Cruise or,

£40 each off another Thomson Holiday or,

A full refund plus standard compo of £40 each.

We took the money and ran. And won't be coming back.

As already stated looks like the offer is a full refund plus £40 perperson.

It appears that due to this cruise being cancelled there are now lots of sprare seats on the planes to Sharm on the 24th.

This has ment some large discounts on holidays and we have booked to go to the Red Sea Holiday Village all inclusive for 11 nights for about the same as we paid for a week on the Spirit.
