kbella Posted February 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2011 I posted this question on the Roll Call board by mistake. My question is: in filling out the application for a Syrian Visa, have you or will you just use the name of the ship for your "address" while in Syria and is it OK under "references" to put "none"? I know you can't have an Israel stamp on your passport, but has anyone had any other issues with information they request on the application. Thanks for any input. kruzlvr Posted February 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Hi Karen On the Syria visa application I put Oceania cruises for the address and put n/a for the reference. I haven't sent it in so I hope it works. I figure once they see the cruise line as my address the "reference" will be immaterial Which sailing on you on? DH and I are on 23 April and are really excited to take our first Oceania cruise. Kruzlvr
kbella Posted February 18, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks kruzlvr. We are on the June 13th Wonders of the Ancients on Nautica. Have a great cruise in April. Hope your itinerary remains solid with all that is happening in the middle east these days. Karen
JBVols Posted February 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Kbella We are also on the June 13th Wonders of the Ancients. What service are you using for your visa. Jim
kbella Posted February 21, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted February 21, 2011 Hi Jim, I'm going to use Passports Plus out of Houston. I've used them before and it was pretty efficient. Karen
billie5 Posted February 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Any reason you are not applying directly to the Syrian consulate? Bill PS: Be careful about applying early. If I remember correctly, the Syrian tourist visa is valid only for 3 months. Of course they might date the visa 3 months ahead of your intended arrival, but I always feel safer applying 3 months before expected arrival. Karen In spite of my previous message when I actually filled out the application the instructions said address "Insignia" and reference "Oceania". We are on the 23 April sailing of "Wonders of the Ancients." Oceania has sent a modified itinerary if we can't get to Egypt, but nothing about when they will decide. One cruise line (can't remember which) has cancelled all port calls in Egypt through the end of May. Whatever happens I am sure we will enjoy our first Oceania cruise. meow! Posted February 23, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2011 With the Middle East in a wildfire uproar, it may be best to avoid that part of the world altogether in the foreseeable future!
