martinsfo Posted February 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Has anyone been to this establishment and what is it like. From what I've read, this is the bar that Northern Exposure modeled "The Brick" on.
Yukon Posted February 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2011 It's a typical small-town cafe but the food is notably good.
bottom-dragger Posted February 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2011 Has anyone been to this establishment and what is it like. From what I've read, this is the bar that Northern Exposure modeled "The Brick" on. when the show was on, everyone claimed that their town was the town cicely was based on. my fav was when they said they were driving to juneau. the bamboo room is a local small town cafe in haines with the world's best halibut burgers. the pioneer bar is a friendly place where you can get beer from the haines brewery. try the spruce ale. tee_harbor Posted February 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2011 Deep friers are ablazing? Oh, yeah, baby! They're famous for their deep-fried halibut, although I found it a bit pricey at $14 (and that was a couple of years ago when halibut prices were lower) a serving. The Sand Bar and Grill in Juneau is cheaper and easily as good, but the Bamboo Room is walkable from the dock while the Sand Bar requires wheels. It's still a bit of a ride from downtown. But if you've rented a car for the day, it's totally worth it.
