Does anyone know if youn can buy inexpensive liquor in the GC and just go sit on the beach and drink it? The reason I ask is because last year when we were in Freeport we got bottles of rum for $7 and took them to the beach and had an amazing day!! Did not know if liquor was just as a cheap in GC as the Bahamas. Thanks

No. Liquor, if purchased for consumption on island, is not just as cheap in Cayman as in the Bahamas. A litre of rum goes for a minimum of US$35.

Liquor purchased in Cayman for consumption on island is subject the the rather hefty import duty. There are deals to be found at the duty free shops, but those purchases are delivered directly to the ship by the liquor store and the ship distributes them to you, usually on the last night of your cruise.

We went to a small liquor store ,across the st. from the Governors House, on seven mile beach, and bought beer and small bottles of vodka and stuff like that. thay had big bottles too. we just put it in a book bag and took it on the ship. price didn't seem high , 2 yrs ago:p then took the cheap bus back to ship $1.50 per person, any bus #1 or #2 blue licence plates, public bus, just wave them down...
