irishayes Posted February 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Am I allowed to purchase a bottle of vodka onboard to use in my room? Here's the situation: I am a medication-controlled diabetic. I have found a drink that does not raise my blood sugar, if I keep it to one or two per day. However, it requires Diet Squirt, vodka, and grapefruit juice. No establishment has ever carried sugar-free Squirt. Usually they don't even carry sugar-free Sprite, only Diet Coke. I have asked for an allowance from Celebrity to bring on the juice and Diet Squirt, and I would be more than happy to purchase a bottle of vodka to use in my room to mix a drink or two. Or can I order just the vodka from the bar, then mix in my own stuff? I know this seems really petty, but when you find something that works for you when you are diabetic, you tend to want to stick with it . . Gonzo70 Posted February 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Yes, Celebrity sells bottles of liquor by the liter for your stateroom; you can order prior to your cruise (from the Celebrity website) or once onboard. It runs about $80 per liter, so a little pricey - but still cheaper than buying an equivalent number of drinks one at a time at a bar. The package also comes with a six pack of mixers of your choice and some nuts. In general Celebrity permits people to bring on board non-alcoholic beverages so it is doubtful you would have a problem bringing on grapefruit juice and/or soda.
