age requiremnets for restaurants and fitness center

what is min age for Portifinos and Chops? hard and fast rule? also, the fitness center age minimum??

Minimum age to use the fitness center is 16 either alone or with an adult. I have seen young children in the specialty restaurants.

Usually, the age for the specialty restaurants is 13, but some ships (not all) allow 3-13 year olds before 8 pm.

On RCCL, no minimum age is posted for the specialty restaraunts. The Fitness Center is 16

Our 14 year old used the Gym on the Navigator in February, no-one asked his age.

From the RCCL website re: specialty restaurants:

 

"For a romantic evening at sea make a reservation at Portofino, our specialty restaurant offering delicious Italian cuisine. Sample some of our chef's new creations or have one of your favorites prepared the classic way. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

 

All guests over the age of 13 are welcome and reservations are recommended; please allow two hours for dining. To make a reservation, use the main menu screen on the TV in your stateroom or call the restaurant directly. Telephone numbers can be found in your stateroom. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a minimum of $10 USD."

 

I could not find an age for the fitness cetner on the RCCL website, but I can "see" the sign posted at the entrance, so I know there is an age limit. I can tell you that I brought my 14 year old in with me and we were on side-by-side treadmills and no one questioned it -- I should point out we weren't playing around -- she is an athlete and was serious about her workout. I'm sure if she/we were goofing off she would have been asked to leave -- trainers circulate through the workout area regularly.

How stringent are they on the age rules in the fitness center. My son will be 16 a month after our cruise and has been weight lifting for 3 years.

Honestly, It depends on the ship. Some don't check ID, if he looks 16 he will be fine. Some the attendants may check ID from everyone who looks younger, so.....

Does anyone remember the hours for the gym? I know they may vary but just a ballpark figure would be great. Thanks

I believe it was 6-10 on Rhapsody.

I believe the times of the fitness centre on the Navigator was 8am - 8pm.
