We leave the tips in place and consider them as part of our cruise cost. I just can't stiff the cruise staff that works very hard for us on a cruise. I usually tip a few more $ to dining and steward staff too. I just wish CCl would add the tips to the base cost of the cruise so folks couldn't stiff the staff.

I have always liked to hand my cash over to the people directly (with a little gift) and sometimes, depending on service, extra money.

I understand now it is an automatic service on Carnival. Has anyone ever opted to not have the automatic payment and deliver the cash personally? Did you have a hard time doing this?

I leave my auto-tips in place. It's simply easier. In addition, your stewards and waiters know when they have been removed.

I always tip extra and do that face to face, in a thank you note.

I do tip a favorite bartender at the end of the week, if there has been one...and always tip the dealer - win, lose or drawer.

Plenty of opportunities for handing out cash, for sure.

On my last cruise I just gave it to each person personally but on my upcoming decided to just prepay so that I wouldn't have to feel the guilt of do they know if I paid or not. Also it seems that the prepaid is spread around to more people. I'm sure they know because you actually have to go up to guest services to tell them to remove them. At any rate we still received great service the entire cruise even after removing them.
