Port or Starboard Balcony Cabin?

DGA

Recommended Posts

Has any one sailed back from Caribbean to England? We are thinking of booking a balcony cabin on P&O Ventura and would like to take advantage of any afternoon sun during the many days at sea. Having worked out which balconies have obstructed views or are in partial shade I am unsure whether to go for a port or starboard cabin.

Can anyone help?

The sun rises in the east, goes through south (in the northern hemispere), and sets in the west.

If sailing from Caribbean to UK, the boat will be sailing west to east, so in theory, the sun will rise in the front, travel round the right hand side of the ship, and set behind it.
