Need help setting itinerary for visit to St Kitts – renting car

I will be at St Kitts on April 6 from 7 am to 4 pm.

The plan is to rent a car – but have not set the itinerary yet. (very familiar renting cars in foreign lands).

Thinking of def. going to Fort – but have no idea where else to go.

What can you recommend?

Other historical areas to go to?

Decent snorkel sites?

Thanks,

Brian

My suggestions:

Brimstone Hill (the 'fort') - is an absolute must

ON THE WAY to Brimstone Hill stop at Caribelle Batik and Romney Manor .

After Brimstone Hill - continuing around the island - stop at The Black Rocks.

Continue the loop around the island till you get to the Frigate Bay area. There is a nice beach at South Frigate Bay.

Continue up Timothy Hill - stop at the top of the hill (plenty of room for a couple of cars to park and take photos in both directions.

Continue along the highway until you get to Cockleshell beach (views of Nevis).

Either stop at Cockleshell or backtrack to one of the other beaches you passed

Decent snorkeling at South Friar's Bay and some snorkeling at South Frigate Bay.

After your beach time head back to Basseterre.

Thanks for the good info.

If you could only choose 1 beach to snorkel at, which one would it be?

I would choose South Friar's Bay for snorkeling

One has a good amount to see closet to shore?

I will have a good video camera with me.

Not sure that I understand this question - do you mean a beach with stuff to see nearby?

Unfortunately the best 'stuff' to see (Brimstone Hill and Caribelle batik) are at the other end of the island. However to get to South Friar's Bay one does have to go over Timothy Hill and it is definitely the best place to stop for scenic photos in both directions. (Just ask your taxi driver to stop - so you can take photos).
