ViviKim Posted February 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Hi, Just got off the explorer of the Seas. We used in-room baby sitting. It was president's week and there were over 1000 kids/minors so we were lucky to get it. We reserved every night of our 9 night cruise from 10 pm to 1 am (canceled one of the nights because we were geting up early for an excursion and did not want a late night at the casino) As previous members posted you get two sitters at a time. Our sitters were very nice, our 20 month old was asleep or mostly asleep most of the time since it was 10pm. The only bad thing was that only a couple of weeks ago the In-room babysitting rate was $12 p/h and right at the start of our trip they increased the rate to $19 p/h and we didn't find out until we were onboard AFTER the first night of sitting was over, so we were not expecting it and had made our calculations of fees and tips based on this amount. Seraphine Posted March 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Ouch!!! $19 an hour? Good heavens, we won't be sailing again with RCI any time soon. We paid $12/hour for 2 kids in November on the Explorer and that was enough of an expense that we couldn't do it all the time. Especially on a cruise line that charges full 3rd person rate for infants... what do they get out of that fare? Certainly no extras.
