Star PH - question on tipping and on drinks

Hi,

We are staying in a suite (Penthouse AC) for the first time. My understanding is we get a butler and a concierge and that they are not included in the $12/day tip. I really have no idea what an acceptable tip is for their services. I am sure opinions will very as tipping is a personal decision, but it would be nice to know what an acceptable tip range is. How much would you tip and if this is based on experience, what services you utilized from them (for example, you might tip less if you never do room service). Also did you tip daily or at the end of the trip?

Regarding drinks, are soft drinks free in a suite? How tacky would it be to bring our own - if I have to pay for my drinks it should be Coke and not Pepsi as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for your input. . .

No free soft drinks in the AC suite on the STAR. No problem bringing your own aboard....NCL has Pepsi products only.

OP.. only the Owners Suite and above have included beverages like soda's, etc. You will get a bottle of sparkling wine and one bottle of water included with your PH suite.

We budget $10 per person per day for each of them, and then adjust up or down commensurate with the service and complexity of our use.

Al

Al, this is exactly how we budget for it as well. We also try to budget an little extra for our room stewards because they do such a great job.
