Another froufie esp review of my double date with destiny-feb 3 & 7, 2011

Hello Froufie! Long time...

Love your detail of the cruise! Sorry that I missed you at the Tea time; You were spot on-horrifying Cozumel sunburn. I felt nauseated for 2 days!

 

Glad you enjoyed yourself! I really loved the R&R of the cruise; There is nothing like having someone else cook for you (for a change).

 

I had no idea there was a Mexican buffet! I love Mexican food, and I missed it! Next time.....

Hey Michelle! So nice to hear from you - and hope your sunburn is all but a faint memory (and if you read all the way thru you would have seen I too 'succumbed' to the same ailment while in Grand Turk - not fun!).

 

Yup - nothing like someone cooking and cleaning up after you - can't complain about that too much - we all need that break! :D:D

 

There is often a mexican buffet - usually on the night of the deck party if there is one on a particular sailing - but with late dining usually too full to try it out -oh well - as you say there's always next time!

I forgot to ask Gary (Cruisin USA) but he had the Aft Wrap on 6 right? Do you know if he had any noise issues from the Criterion Lounge below?

We visited the 'aft wrap' it wasn't late tho - maybe 10:30 pm? I heard no noise and I don't recall Gary mentioning any noise so I think it should be okay? (pack the earplugs just in case? :D:D)

 

You will have a blast on the Destiny! (and hoping you post a review and pics so I can 'relive' the cruise once again!)

Need to take a bathroom break - not far from the door - think I can make it? Tell the others to send out a search party if I’m not back in a few minutes. I am able to look somewhat dignified and make it to the washroom (where there is a woman in worst condition than me bending over the bowl!!!) and back only to find out while I was gone the ‘entertainment’ had begun - it was Amore night (when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie....)...the waiters are all lined up singing and as I walk by our waiter Nyoman trying to get back to my seat he grabs me and starts dancing with me - not a good idea Nyoman - then he starts that spinning thing! Wow - I was already spinning without his help!!! Anyhow I make it thru the dance without falling over and Ray was ‘kind’ enuf to grab my camera and snap some pics (what a guy!)

Off to the show - Nightclub Express - which I have seen several times before - but this time is if revamped - very fancy with the videos and stuff and some new songs/dances - very excellent singers and dancers this cruise. Not ready to call it a night when it’s over I head up to the casino (Ray of course is off to bed). I find my lucky lemmings machine and ‘feed’ it $30 - it REWARDS me with a payoff of $188 - wow. I immediately cash out and put my money in my safe. Thank you Lemmings. Cup of tea and off to my cabin where I find my pin, past guest party invite (tomorrow) and my special carnival platinum gift - one of those collapsible cooler bags - very nice!

 

 

 

Time for bed and looking forward to Grand Turk the next day!

 

 

I recognize the man in your picture (man with long blond hair). He did a review last year and due to plane/weather issues he missed the ship and had to fly to the first port.

Yup - you got it right - that's famouse cruise critic 'Gary' - aka cruisin USA - missed the ship the year before and still flew in the day of this time (but knew we would hold the ship for him? ha ha ha). He was on the roll call of course and what a surprise when he ended up at our dinner table - we had a blast of course! :D:D

Froufie, I know you didn't have an inside cabin, but was hoping maybe you could answer my question? Do they have magnifying mirrors in the bathrooms on the Destiny? I know they did on the Splendor and am hoping they do on the Destiny. If they don't, I will need to bring one, can't see to put on makeup:p!!

Hi there,

 

As I recall there were NO magnifying mirrors in the destiny bathroom so do bring your own! (I have a travel mirror I bring with me and set it up on the 'vanity' desk area and put my makeup on there (bathroom too small and steamy for me! :D)

Glad you enjoyed the review - and yes the best of both worlds: someone at home who will watch the kiddies and house and not really fond of travelling and a great cruise buddy who is fun (and lets me do all the planning) - a win/win situation! :D:D

Froufie sorry for this question how do you book a back 2 back cruise

because I never use a TA I always book online.thanks and Happy easter

Hmmm...I use a Carnival PVP - but I suppose you could do it online? The only major issue - well for me - would be to get the same cabin for both sailings! (I have heard of some people switching cabins but honestly that seems like too much work - I just want to relax and enjoy 'switchover' day!)

 

So once you have done your 'research' I presume you can still book the 2 separate sailings online (as 2 separate cruises?).....or call Carnival and book it that way?

What night was the Chef's Table dinner night? We are going in a few months and I wondered if it was an "at sea" night or when you are in Cosumel or Key West Night.

I believe it varies - you can try to find out once you have reserved it (they originally told us one night - then changed it to another!)

Although we gifted our friends and families with their cabins, our guests were asked to register for late dining. As sometimes happens, we had folks literally wait til the last moment to complete their fun pass and late dining is now not available. Long story short, I read you had the email to the maitre'd and I was hoping you might share in hopes of having my wedding party not only sit near each other but also at the same dining times.

Congrats on your pending nuptials - and I know you will all enjoy the Destiny. Definitely touch base with the maitre d who I"m sure will try and set you and your family up! Froufie!!..Great review,,,wonderful pictures...gee you are pretty..congrats on Platinum..it is great you travel like this..my maternal grandpa was not much for travel..my grandma would have done much more if creative options were more ok like you guys do in her day..I did not know you really were not a solo...LOL..and congrats on the cabin and 150%..didn't we beat that subject to death??LOL
