NCL Sun - booking non-NCL excursions and insurance questions

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As a first time cruiser I am trying to learn as much as I can in advance of my cruise. My daughter and I are taking the Sun on the May 8 Baltic ports cruise. I have booked excursions with NCL however keep reading of the benefits (cost wise and otherwise - early entry to the Hermitage, for example) of booking with independent tour companies.

Here is my concern - and it is a big one in my mind. Insurance coverage.

I often travel to the Caribbean, and book through a tour agent and they always have a rep at the AI resorts. It is my understanding that if one was to go on an excursion not booked through a tour agent at the hotel, (ie recognized by the tour company and insurance company), if something was to happen, the insurance company would be within their rights to deem the travel insurance to be null and void. (We all know they will do whatever they can to deny a claim).

Surely I am not the first person to raise this (potential) concern. Any advice and information would really be appreciated.

Unless youre doing bungee jumping off the Hermitage, I dont see why private tours is an issue.

Post the wording of their policy.

Also, any reputable tour company would be insured eg we used TJ Travel in StP.

Maybe its a Carribean thing.
